Therapy

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence based treatment for a wide range of difficulties that focuses on understanding cycles of thoughts, behaviours and emotions and how to break unhelpful patterns that keep us stuck.

Initial stages of treatment are about gaining a shared level of understanding of these patterns, with following sessions being focused on how we can change these. There is no “quick fix” or “one size fits all” technique but something we will explore together to find different ways to tackle this that work for you.

In this approach the therapy continues outside of our sessions where you will be encouraged to practice different techniques and skills to strengthen new patterns of behaviours and thinking.

What can CBT be helpful for?

  • Anxiety difficulties; such as Health anxiety, Social anxiety, Panic attacks, Worry, OCD and Phobias

  • Depression and Low mood

  • Low self esteem and confidence difficulties

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Perfectionism

  • Negative thinking

How is CBT different to other therapies?

CBT is a more structured approach where we are focused on making active changes, and working towards specific goals you have identified. In CBT, therapists and clients also work much more as a team, and encourage active participation throughout the process.

We can have a free brief consultation to ensure both CBT and myself are the right fit for you.
